After years of impressive results IHG was operating within an increasingly competitive industry which had significantly moved on. The business needed a commercial and cultural lift.
That work started at the annual senior leaders meeting, galvanising IHG’s top 80 global leaders to unite their teams behind a stretching ambition that would significantly increase the pace of growth by the end of 2020.
What made the difference?
Igniting the case for change. The business was not under imminent threat - having enjoyed a strong track record of commercial performance. The critical challenge was how to step-change focus and pace in that context.
We designed immersive experiences that challenged leaders’ beliefs about where the business was at - and where it might end up in a rapidly changing market.
And we created physical spaces and coached the exec team to facilitate in a way that pushed leaders to engage more honestly with each other. Together this sparked the breakthrough conversations needed to get them on the same page, and fired up to drive focused action back in the business.
